Akiddie – A Digital Collection of African Stories

Stories can greatly influence the human mind, and the act of storytelling is the most powerful vehicle to put ideas into the world. Today, there is a shortage of children storybooks that talk about African realities.

Combining the power of technology and storytelling, Dominic Onyekachi and Fanan Dala created Akiddie, a digital collection of socially conscious stories for children. The stories were specially developed to give kids a unique understanding of African culture and insight into innovation, gender equality, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.

The platform currently has 30 books available, 5 of which are free while the others require an affordable monthly subscription to the platform. These stories reflect African culture and simplify the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, with the aim of making these goals part of children’s aspirations.
